Sudanese President Omar Al Bashir on Thursday, attended the swearing in ceremony of Uganda’s president for another term in spite of an arrest warrant by the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Bashir joined the rest of his other African leaders to witness President Yoweri Museveni’s swearing in for another five-year term in office.

The Permanent Secretary, Uganda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, James Mugume, told newsmen that Museveni invited his Sudanese counterpart to witness the event.

The AU in October 2013, agreed not to cooperate with ICC in its criminal proceedings against the sitting president, saying it infringes on the nation’s sovereignty. (Xinhua/NAN)
