Super Eagles Hold Crisis Meeting Ahead of Iceland Showdown

2 Min Read

The Super Eagles have reportedly come together to hold an emergency after their disappointing loss to Croatia and ahead of a critical game against plucky Iceland on Friday.

The Eagles went down by two goals, one from an own goal by Etebo and the other a penalty by Luka Modric after Trost-Ekong brought Mario Mandzukic down in the box.

The players were mad after the game criticizing the tactics of Gernot Rohr and disappointed by the performances of players who were meant to do well such as Wilfred Ndidi, Victor Moses and Alex Iwobi.

According to the Punch, a source for the paper said; “The players reviewed their performances in the match against Croatia and resolved to hold talks with the coach before the game,”

Nigeria could see their world cup dreams end if they fail to win against Iceland and could find themselves out of the competition just like Egypt who lost their second game to Russia last night.

According to the Punch, John Mikel Obi is also being urged to speak to coach Rohr to play players in their positions and also to perhaps use two strikers up front.

Recall that Mikel Obi played as a Number 10, a position his former manager Jose Mourinho said was not good for him as he should have been a Number 6.
