Super Falcons Hold Portugal to Goalless Draw in Thrilling International Friendly in Lisbon

Nigeria’s Super Falcons put up a resilient performance on Monday night, holding Portugal’s women’s national team to a 0-0 draw in an international friendly match at the Estadio José Gomes in Lisbon.
The highly competitive encounter saw both teams neutralize each other in the opening stages. The match came to life around the 30-minute mark when goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie produced two impressive saves to deny the hosts.

Nigeria gradually grew into the game, with Francisca Ordega and Rasheedat Ajibade testing the Portuguese defence on a few quick breaks. Rinsola Babajide came close to breaking the deadlock late in the first half, but her effort sailed off target.
Just minutes into the second half, Everton forward Toni Payne was presented with a golden opportunity after being set up by captain Ajibade, but failed to convert from inside the box.
Portugal upped the tempo after the miss, but Nnadozie stood firm with another top save to keep the Super Falcons in the game.
Head coach Justine Madugu made tactical changes in the 60th minute, bringing on Ifeoma Onumonu, Ashleigh Plumptre, and Halimat Ayinde, which injected fresh energy into the squad.
Nigeria nearly stole a late winner in the final 10 minutes — Ordega’s effort rattled the woodwork, and Onumonu narrowly missed converting her cross.
With the draw, the Super Falcons continue their unbeaten run in friendlies and shift focus to their upcoming clash against rivals Ghana’s Black Queens on Friday.
