Super Falcons loses 3-0 to China as four-nation tournament begins

African champions, Super Falcons, suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat from China in the opening game of the ongoing four-nation invitational tournament.

Zhang Rui opened scoring for China at the the ninth minute on Thursday. The first half ended 1-0 in favour of  the Steel Roses.

While the Nigerian side made remarkable efforts in the first half, their morale was obviously gone in the second half, leaving the Chinese to dominate play.

Li Ying doubled the goal, while Ying make the ultimate strike for the third goal after injury time.

Thomas Dennerby, coach of the Super Falcons, said his side will focus on bouncing back against Romania in the third place match of the tournament on January 20.

“We hope to do better in the next match, I know my girls are equal to the task ahead,” Dennerby said.
