Supreme court has upturned the election victory of David Lyon, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and declared the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Duoye Diri the rightful Winner of the Bayelsa gubernatorial poll.
Justice Mary Peter Odili who led a five-man panel gave an order for the withdrawal of Certificate of return issued to David Lyon and his deputy Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo.

The Independent National Electoral Commission is expected to obey this order.
This is coming after APC party members reportedly removed PDP flags at the roundabout leading to Bayelsa government house ahead of his inauguration slated for Friday. This is to signal the taking over of the state from PDP Seriake Dickson-led administration.
The Nation has also reported that Lyon has been attending rehearsals at the Samson Siasia sports complex where the swearing-in ceremony is expected to hold on Friday, Feb 14, 2020.
Most hotels in the state have been overbooked with guests slated to attend Lyon’s ceremonial takeover.
However , the verdict of the Supreme court has thrown residents and politicians in a state of silent shock.
