The Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld the election of Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State.

The appeal filed by Honorable James Faleke, the deputy to Late Abubakar Audu, APC candidate and the PDP candidate Captain Idriss Wada were unanimously dismissed by the Supreme court.

The two lower courts – election tribunal and appeal courts- had previously dismissed their petition against Governor Yahya Bello for lacking in Merit

The appellate court said it will give reasons for its judgment on September 30, 2016. The court is expected to hear the appeal today and determine it one way or the other.

The All Progressives Congress substituted Bello as its governorship candidate and retained James Faleke as its deputy governorship candidate after Abubakar Audu died at the conclusion of the first round of the election held on November 21.
