A 28-year-old suspect in police custody and under interrogation in connection with a theft case was reported to have robbed the policewoman interrogating him.
The suspect identified as Deji Ayoola was reported to have been taken to the Rapid Response Squad office in Alausa, Ikeja, on Saturday for interrogation over the theft of a wallet containing N14,500 belonging to a commuter.
However, during interrogation, Ayoola allegedly stole the sum of N1,200 which fell from the policewoman interrogating him.
He was subsequently exposed by another suspect in police custody.
Ayoola in reaction to the fresh crime was reported to have said: “It was the devil who pushed me into the act.”
According to Punch Metrom the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed that the arrested suspect had been transferred to the Lagos State Task Force on Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit, for prosecution.
