Suspected herdsmen have macheted a woman, Amaka Okafor, in Ondo State for allegedly stopping them from grazing their cattle on her rice plantation.

The incident reportedly occurred in Ayede Ogbese, Akure North Local Government Area of the state on Wednesday.

The Punch reported that Okafor, 37, had resisted the herdsmen’s attempt to graze their cattle on her farm which led to an altercation.

The herdsmen were said to have inflicted machete cuts on Okafor and left her unconscious on the farm before taking to their heels.

A Good Samaritan was said to have found her in her unconscious state and rushed her to a hospital for treatment.

The Ondo State Police Command confirmed the incident.

“The good news is that the victim could identify the assailants and we have begun investigation into it. The woman is recuperating at the hospital,” the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Tee-Leo Ikoro, said.
