The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, has advised on the best way to avoid being blackmailed with a sextape.
Hundeyin, who regularly engages and enlightens the public through Twitter, took to the platform to give the piece of advice on Monday.
The Herald can report that Nigerian musician, Harrysong took to Instagram in March to lament that a lady he knew six years ago was blackmailing him with a sextape.
His colleagues, Tiwa Savage and Oxlade also had their sextape shared online.
Hundeyin said that the command regularly gets complaints from victims being blackmailed with their sextape.
According to him, the command responds to such complaints promptly.
However, the police spokesman noted, it was better not to be in such situation of being blackmailed with a sextape in the first place.
“‘He’s threatening to release my n*des if I don’t send money. Please help me. I have his name, number and account details.’ I get similar messages almost every other day. While we always take the complaints up, please remember that prevention is still far better than cure!” Hundeyin wrote.
