Former Abia State Governor, Theodore Orji has reiterated that he would be quitting politics in 2023.

He stated this weekend during a wedding in Umuajatta Olokoro, Umuahia South Local Government Area of the state.

Recall that Orji, who is the current Senator representing Abia Central, made the assertion in April 2020, when he debunked reports that he was nursing a presidential ambition in 2023.

He clocked 70 years in November.

Speaking at the wedding ceremony, he said he was quitting politics to pave way for Nigerian youths to take over.

He also promised to resist pressure to seek any position that will keep him active in politics before 2023.

“Your future as Abians is bright. I have since decided to quit politics in 2023 to give way for you all.

“If I don’t quit, there won’t be space for you. But I have to quit so that you can take over. I’ll support you in every way possible.

“You have all been supporting me since the inception of my political career, thank you so much for that; it’s time for me to support you in your own careers too,” Orji said.
