Tanker Driver Charged With Reckless Driving In Abuja For Endangering Life of Public Servant
 A 44-year-old public servant, Mrs Michelle Atar on Thursday, told a Grade I Area Court in Kubwa, Abuja that a petrol tanker driver, Jume Mubarak drove against traffic, crushed and destroyed her car.
The police charged Mubarak, 25, with reckless and dangerous driving.

Being led in evidence by the Prosecution Counsel, John Okpa, Atar, said the incident happened  on the Dutse, Makaranta road in Abuja on July 21.

 

”Before I got to the police sign board junction, a tanker fully loaded with petroleum product driven by the defendant rear ended my car.

“He pushed me off the road and crushed my car, completely destroying it. I sustained grievous injuries as a result,” she said.
She presented photographs of her damaged car at the scene of the accident.
The witness’ statement was tendered and admitted as an exhibit.
The defense counsel, Ahmed Abubakar, asked the victim what time the accident happened and whether traffic was being diverted.
Atar said she was not aware and that the accident happened at 4 p.m.
After listening to her testimony,  the judge, Muhammad Adamu adjourned the case until Dec.12 for further hearing.  (NAN)
