A 17-year-old boy game addict has died after playing video games all through the night without sleeping. The teenager who is reportedly on school break was found slumped on his bedroom floor with his video game on.

Piyawat Harikun is a teenager who hails from Udon Thani in Thailand and an addicted video gamer.

According to his parent who found his dead body in his bedroom said Piyawat was a smart boy who got good grades in school but his only weakness was video games.

Every time he got home, all he wanted to do was be left alone in his room and play games. The school holiday worsened the situation as he had so much free time to engage his addiction.

According to Piwayat’s father Jaranwit, “there was a pile of takeaway boxes on the desk and a bottle of fizzy pop at his feet, while his headphones were resting on top of another computer tower.

He would stay up all-night then draw the curtains in the day to continue his fixation with gaming, spending hours on the computer at home.

We would take food to his room and urged him to stop, but Piyawat just didn’t want to cut down on his obsession”

Speaking on how he found his son’s body, he said “I called his name and said ‘wake up, wake up’ but he did not respond. I could see he was dead.”

“I want my son’s death to be an example and warning for parents whose children are game addicts. They need to be more strict on their children’s playing hours otherwise they could end up like my son.”
