Teenager Taken To Court For Alleged Theft of Power Generator

The police on Friday brought one 18-year-old teenager, Yusuf Sanni before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly stealing a power generator and a copper wire.

The defendant is standing trial before the Magistrate, Mr A.A. Adesanya, on a count charge of stealing

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Simon Uche told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Dec. 21, 2019, at Iba in Ojo, Lagos.

He alleged that the defendant stole a Tiger generator and a copper wire from the shop of the complainant, Mr Godwin Kingsley, while he was away.

According to the prosecutor, the generator is valued N15,000 while the copper wire is worth N7,000.

Stealing contravenes Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, and is punishable with three years’ imprisonment.

Adesanya granted the defendant bail in the sum of N10,000 with two sureties in like sum.

He adjourned the case until Jan. 27 for mention.
