Ten Chinese, One Ghanaian Arrested for Illegal Mining in Osun

Operatives of the Joint task force and the Amotekun corps in Osun State have arrested Ten Chinese and One Ghanaian citizen for illegal mining in the state.

The illegal miners were arrested during a joint operation by both security outfits on several communities in Atakumosa west Local Government area.

Security operatives were reportedly tipped off by residents of the area who noticed unusual activities and strange faces in their communities.

The DG of the Amotekun Corps in Osun State, Amitolu Shittu confirmed the incident in a statement on Tuesday.

“10 China and one Ghana nationals were arrested,” he said.

“The success recorded is as a result of the resolve of Governor Oyetola to rid the state of economic saboteurs.”

This fresh arrest comes on the heels of the arrest of 17 Chinese nationals for illegal mining several weeks ago by the state government.
