The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) today issued certificate of return to Uchechukwu Ogah as governor-elect of Abia State.
This is coming on the heels of a court ruling directing current governor Okezie Ikpeazu to vacate his office, a directive which Ikpeazu claims he has appealed against.
The Abuja high court which was presided over by Justice Okon Abang ruled that Governor Ikpeazu was in default of his tax payment, and therefore not fit to be governor and they subsequently ordered INEC to issue certificate of return to Uche Ogah as governor-elect.
INEC complied doing exactly that and issuing the certificate of return to Uchechukwu Ogah.
