TG Omori Reveals He Only Started Making Profits in 2023 Despite Years of High Demand

Popular Nigerian music video director TG Omori has opened up about the financial struggles he faced behind the scenes of his celebrated career. Despite being one of the most in-demand music video directors in the country for several years, Omori revealed that he only began making profits from his craft in 2023.

The acclaimed cinematographer made the disclosure during an interactive session with fans on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday. Responding to a fan who asked how he manages production budgets while still factoring in profit, Omori said:
“I only started making profits in 2023. Every time I’m losing money from pick-up shoots or something! Budget is never enough. In fact, I was in bad production debt for five years. Just had to live with it. I was paying up and taking more to cover up. I was only able to pay it off through money my brand and personality was fetching me. It’s a tough life for creatives. Hug a creative beside you today.”
Omori’s revelation sheds light on the financial realities many creatives face in the entertainment industry, where high visibility doesn’t always translate to profitability.
DAILY POST recalls that in 2023, Nigerian music star Davido revealed during an interview with Beats FM Lagos that he paid TG Omori a staggering N100 million to direct the video for his hit single, Jowo. Omori later confirmed the payment in a social media post, sparking widespread conversations about the rising costs of high-quality music video production in Nigeria.
TG Omori, known for directing iconic visuals for top Nigerian artists like Burna Boy, Olamide, Asake, and Rema, remains one of the most innovative voices in African music video production.
