The Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has urged the Federal Government and the military to ensure the elimination of all bandits if the safety of Nigerian school children and the general populace is to be guaranteed.

He stated that the only way to stop banditry was to kill all the bandits.

The controversial El-Rufai stated this on Monday in Abuja at the stakeholders’ dialogue on Financing Safe Schools in Nigeria.

Finance Minister, Zainab Ahmed organised the dialogue.

The Kaduna governor urged the Nigerian Air Force to deploy its air platforms, including drones, to bomb the forests where bandits hide.

“Nobody living in the forest is innocent and we must kill them all. The Chief of Air Staff has been doing well and this has led to a reduction in the activities of bandits in recent times. So the only way to stop banditry is to kill them all,” the Kaduna governor said.

He reiterated his stance on non-negotiation with bandits, stressing that “people ask if I won’t pay the ransom if my child was kidnapped and I said that I won’t pay but that is a personal decision, which we do not all support.”
