President-elect Bola Tinubu has congratulated Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen on clinching the Italian Serie A title with Napoli.

Osimhen, 24, scored in the 52nd minute to help Napoli secure a 1-1 draw against Udinese on Thursday and secure their first league title in 33 years.

The team last won the title in 1990, inspired by late football legend, Diego Maradona.

The epoch-making feat sparked wild jubilations among the club’s players and fans in the southern Italian city of Naples.

Osimhen has netted 22 times to help the club achieve the feat, drawing accolades to him across the planet.

In a Sunday tweet, President-elect Tinubu said Osimhen has continued the fine tradition of Nigeria’s footballing excellence on the global stage.

Tinubu, who will be inaugurated as President on May 29, said, “I think we can all agree that there was another coronation in Italy where our son, Victor Osimhen, claimed the crown as the new King of Serie A!

“The real deal, or idán gangan as younger folks may describe him; Victor has continued the fine tradition of Nigeria’s footballing excellence on the global stage.

“We are all proud of him and wish him well in what is already a remarkable career.”
