A Massachusetts dad was happy to pay his teen daughter $200 to quit Facebook for 4 months. He even drew up an official “Facebook Deactivation Agreement.”

Rachel Baier, a 14-year-old high school student agreed to stay away from the popular social network if her dad delivered the cash. Under the agreement, Rachel will get $50 of her payment in April and then another $150 in June if she honors the contract.

According to Yahoo News, the teen’s dad, Paul Baier, will retain access of her account and change the password so his daughter can’t reactivate it. To be clear, the entire thing was his daughter’s idea to make some extra cash. She initially asked for $70, but then upped the amount when she considered she would have to kick Facebook for five months.

“She mostly wanted and needed the money as she has been frustrated by not finding babysitting jobs. She is honors student but she says Facebook can be distracting” Baier said.

The dad hopes the agreement will somehow lead to a long-term trend where his daughter doesn’t have to be on Facebook 24/7.

“I’ve realized that she is part of generation of kids that has grown up on Facebook. She’s been on it for two years full-time. This is two years of 24/7 teen discussion of friends, clothes, parties, etc,” he added. “They can’t get away from it. I’m proud she recognized the benefit of a hiatus. She plans to go on using it after the contract end.”
