A former member of the House Representatives from Bauchi State, Ibrahim Baba has alleged that there is an outbreak of COVID-19 in Azare, a town in the state.
Ibrahim Baba wrote an open letter to President Buhari that 100 people have died from COVID-19 complications in the town over the last one week.
The former lawmaker informed the President that the deaths have caused panic and confusion among residents of the town and appealled to Buhari to direct the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) to send it’s officials to Bauchi State.
Ibrahim Baba noted that the proximity of Azare to Kano may be responsible for the growing COVID-19 related deaths in the town.
He also appealed to the President to allow a facility built in the town by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) be used to isolate and treat COVID-19 patients in the town.
Excerpts of his open letter read;
“As a matter of life death, I have the utmost trust in your sense of patriotism and commitment to the well-being of Nigerians that you will assist the beleaguered people of Azare town and environs to overcome this harrowing situation.
And while I look forward to your kind response, please, accept the assurance of my high esteem and loyalty.”
