It was reported a short while ago that the militant group, Joint Niger Delta Liberation force had warned Buhari that there was a military coup brewing with the aim to take him out.

The army have since denied such an allegation saying that there were no such plans by the military.

But reports indicate that the President is taking precautions against the possibility as it was gathered that President Muhammadu Buhari has named Abdulkarim Dauda and Kayode Sikiru Akande to serve as the Chief Personal Security Officer to the President and the Officer in Charge of Presidential Movement respectively.

According to the Signal, a source claimed that the president has seen the need for some fresh bodies in his security team and that while the appointment of a Chief Security Officer for the President may have long been overdue, the President allegedly harbours fears as to the possible plans of the military.
“The issue of a new Chief Security Officer for the President has lingered for some time now. But I can tell you that Thursday’s announcement is a swift and panic reaction to the news of a possible military coup which the President is not taking lightly. You know he is a retired military general. Anything that relates to his personal security, he doesn’t joke with it. He actually gets paranoid with it”, the source said speaking exclusively to The Signal.

The President has already shown that he is particular about security firing Abdulrahman Mani who was then his Chief Security Officer in July 2015. Mani had been alleged to have been involved in some indiscretions which made his sack inevitable.
