Tinubu Not to Blame for PDP Crisis – Fayose Declares Party “Dead”
Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has absolved President Bola Tinubu of any responsibility for the ongoing crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying the opposition party has only itself to blame.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Wednesday, Fayose said it would be unfair to link Tinubu to the spate of defections currently rocking the PDP.
He described the party as “dead,” insisting he would not be part of any effort to revive it.
“It will be unfair to blame Tinubu for the recent defection of Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, and his Bayelsa State counterpart, Douye Diri, to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC),” Fayose said.
The two-term former governor hinted that more PDP governors were already considering leaving the party, describing its current state as beyond redemption.
“The PDP is gone. I’m not among those who will resurrect it,” he added.
Fayose, a former PDP stalwart and vocal critic of the APC in the past, has in recent times struck a conciliatory tone towards President Tinubu, urging Nigerians to give his administration time to deliver on its promises.
