The current governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi has been allegedly asked to stop attending any governorship meeting organized by his party, the All Progressive Congress, in the State.

Ajimbobi failed to deliver not just his senatorial district, in the entire Oyo South which should have been his stronghold, APC has only won one of five seats while PDP had clinched three and on course to win the fourth one this weekend.

As a result of this, there have been protests against the governor from APC leaders in the state which has eventually drawn the attention of the party’s national leader, Bola Tinubu. As part of his plans to return an APC governor to helm of affairs in the state, Sahara Reporters reported that Tinubu asked Ajimobi to not attend any meeting that involves the Bayo Adelabu, the party’s gubernatorial candidate.

While speaking with correspondents from Sahara Reporters, an insider in Oyo State’s division of the party, said, “The belief of Tinubu and other APC leaders is that it is Ajimobi that the people are angry with — not APC — therefore he should stay away from campaign activities.

“The fear is that Ajimobi’s appearance at Adelabu’s campaign rallies will be damaging for the party. In fact, there is a jingle of the party begging the people, explaining that Ajimobi, not the party, is the fall guy. Since the presidential and national assembly elections, Adelabu has been campaigning on his own — without the Governor’s involvement.”

Equally the announcement is said to have featured a section where the party was desperately begging Oyo State indigenes, using the names of prominent Yoruba politicians such as Yemi Osinbajo, Bola Tinubu, Bisi Akande, as well as Buhari and Oshiomhole, as leverage.
