Tinubu Tasks New Service Chiefs to End Insecurity, Warns Against Excuses
President Bola Tinubu has charged the newly appointed service chiefs to end the nation’s lingering insecurity, stressing that Nigerians expect results rather than excuses.
The President gave the directive on Thursday during the decoration ceremony of the service chiefs at the State House, Abuja.
Tinubu congratulated the officers on their appointments and Senate confirmations, describing their new roles as a call to duty and sacrifice in protecting the nation’s territorial integrity.
“This ceremony is beyond the symbolism of decoration. It marks the beginning of our renewed effort to ensure the peace and security of all Nigerians,” he said. “Security is an essential element without which everything else is rendered meaningless. There cannot be sufficient development if this fundamental aspect of human need is unmet.”
While commending the Armed Forces for reclaiming territories previously held by terrorists and rescuing kidnapped citizens, Tinubu said the fight against insecurity was far from over. He expressed concern over the emergence of new armed groups across the North-Central, North-West, and parts of the South, urging the security heads to act decisively.
“We must not allow these new threats to fester. We must be decisive and proactive. Let us smash the new snakes right in the head,” Tinubu warned.
The President emphasized the need for innovation, courage, and the use of modern technology to stay ahead of those threatening the country’s peace.
“We cannot allow the crisis that began in 2009 to persist any longer,” he said. “I charge you to carry out your duties with patriotic zeal. Nigerians expect results, not excuses.”
Tinubu assured the service chiefs of his administration’s full support in the fight against insecurity, pledging to provide all necessary resources to help them succeed.
“Challenges remain, but with courage and commitment, we can overcome them,” he said. “May God continue to keep our Armed Forces safe.”
