Tinubu Tells Gov Alia to Expect Insults, Directs Benue to Provide Land for Cattle Ranching

President Bola Tinubu has told Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, to brace for public criticism, describing it as a core part of leadership. The president made the remark during a town hall meeting with stakeholders in Benue on Wednesday, following the killing of over 200 people in the state by suspected herdsmen.
Addressing the persistent farmer-herder crisis, Tinubu directed Governor Alia to allocate land for the establishment of cattle ranches as a long-term solution. He also announced the formation of a committee of elders to lead reconciliation efforts, which will include all former governors of the state and the current Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule.
The President further ordered intelligence agencies to overhaul their information networks to ensure better preventive action and queried security chiefs over the lack of arrests in connection with the killings. He tasked the Chief of Defence Staff to take immediate action to flush out criminal elements from affected communities.
“Get your lantern. Seek out those leaders to join you to find solutions. I’m ready to invest in bringing peace to Benue,” Tinubu said to Governor Alia.
He also called on Benue citizens to unite and find common ground to ensure lasting peace in the state.
