Tolu Arokodare Wins 2025 Ebony Shoe Award in Belgium

KRC Genk striker Tolu Arokodare has been named the winner of the 2025 Ebony Shoe award, an honour bestowed annually on the best African player or player of African descent in the Belgian Pro League, DAILY POST reports.
The 24-year-old forward was recognised for his standout performances during the 2024/25 season, in which he scored 22 goals and provided seven assists for Genk, also known as the Smurfs.

Arokodare beat out strong competition for the award, including Noah Sidiki of Union St. Gilloise, his Genk teammate Zakaria El Ouahdi, fellow Union Saint-Gilloise forward Promise David, and fellow Nigerian international Raphael Onyedika.
The Ebony Shoe award has a rich history of honouring top African talent in Belgium, with former Super Eagles stars like Daniel Amokachi, Victor Ikpeba, Celestine Babayaro, and Godwin Okpara among its past recipients.
