Tosin Adarabioyo to Decide Soon on International Future, Denies Turning Down Nigeria

Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo has revealed that he will soon decide on his international football future.
The 27-year-old, born in England to Nigerian parents, has previously represented England at youth levels, earning 14 caps between the U-16 and U-17 teams. However, he remains eligible to play for Nigeria at senior level, as he has yet to make a senior appearance for England.
Reports had suggested that Adarabioyo turned down an opportunity to represent Nigeria in the past, but the centre-back has denied these claims. Speaking to reporters after Chelsea’s UEFA Europa Conference League final victory over Real Betis, Adarabioyo explained that his focus was on settling into club football.

“I never turned down Nigeria and I have never had a conversation that I will be going to Nigeria,” he said. “At the point last season, where there was a bit of conversation, I said I wanted to focus on club football, I was at the last year at Fulham and now at Chelsea, in my first year, where I needed to concentrate. Now is the time I need to make a decision (on international future).”
Adarabioyo joined Chelsea on a free transfer last summer and has quickly become a key figure in the Blues’ defense.
