Lloris tried to hold on to a dangerous cross which he should have turned over the crossbar the resulting error as he dropped the ball resulted in Brighton’s first goal as the attacking player was left with a simple header from five yards.

Hugo Lloris would later be substituted in the match due to an injury sustained from the incident. Reports coming from the Tottenham Camp confirms the French man would be out of action for the rest of the year.

“Although surgery will not be required, our club captain has suffered ligament damage,” Spurs said in a statement.

“He is not expected to return to training before the end of 2019.

“Hugo is currently in a brace and will now undergo a period of rest and rehabilitation.”

What this means for Tottenham is that will have to trust reserve goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga. The 27-year old Argentine conceded two against Brighton, not the way he would’ve loved to start life stepping into Lloris’s big shoes but he now has the rest of the year to prove that he can take the mantle from the World Cup winning shot stopper.
