Ilorin Trader Shot Dead For Refusing To Sell Cigarette To Gunmen

Five gunmen killed a cigarette seller identified simply as MM, allegedly for refusing to sell the product to them.

Eyewitness reports said that the fleeing suspects had rushed into the cigarette seller’s shop to buy cigarette.

The seller was shot in the head in his shop at Gaa Akanbi area of Ilorin, Kwara State by one of the suspected cultists.

Arriving in the shop, the suspects asked the trader for cigarettes and he told them that he had no cigarette.

The gang members were said to have become very angry, and one of them pointed to a cigarette pack in the shop.

MM reportedly replied that the remaining cigarette pack had been paid for by someone and that he could not accept money for it again.

They stated that the suspects were enraged when the trader told them that the buyer was on his way to collect it.

One of the suspects reportedly shot the cigarette seller on the head, and then entered the shop and took the pack of the cigarette while the victim was in the throes of death.

The Kwara State Police Public Relations Offier, Mr. Ajayi Okasanmi, confirmed the killing of the cigarette seller.

He said, “I learnt that there was a killing in Gaa Akanbi area yesterday night, but we are still investigating the incident.”
