Emmanuel Abe, Kogi state Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has confirmed the death of eight people in a ghastly accident confirmed the accident in Lokoja.
Abe said the ghastly accident occurred in the early hours on Monday in Lokoja, the state.
According to him, Seven others also sustained varying degrees of injuries in the accident involving a petrol laden truck, three cars, four tricycles, a bus and two motorcycles.

Abe told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the crash happened at about 8.50 a.m. at Felele along Lokoja-Abuja road.
According to him, the accident was caused by brake failure of a Petrol-laden DAF truck with Jigawa registration number – JEG141XA.
He said that the truck ran into four tricycles, two motorcycles, three cars and a bus, killing eight persons on the spot.
He said that 17 people were involved in the accident, saying that the injured and the dead were taken to the Federal Medical Centre and the State Specialist Hospital, in Lokoja.
Meanwhile, The Herald reported that three persons were on Wednesday, November confirmed dead in an auto crash, involving a tipper lorry and a Mercedes Benz in Ibadan, Oyo state.
The victims included two suspected members of the Federal Road Safe Commission (FRSC) and one other yet to be identified. This is contained in a statement The Herald obtained from the Corps official instagram page.
The statement read: “Our attention has been drawn to the road traffic crash incident that allegedly claimed the lives of three (3) people suspected to be members of the Corps and one (1) other who is yet to be identified.
“The Corps Marshal has directed the Sector Commander to carry out full investigation into the culpable cause of the incident and report immediately.
“To this end, the general public is advised to be calm while investigation is on going. Meanwhile, first information that reached us indicates that a driver of a tipper lorry was alleged to have stopped on his own and the driver alighted and walked down to meet with our patrol team.
