Tragic: Man Dies In Anambra Fatal Motorcycle Crash

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra,  Mr Andrew Kumapayi, on Friday confirmed the death of a middle-aged man, who died in a motorcycle crash along the Ihiala-Owerri highway.

Kumapayi, who confirmed the development in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka, said the motorcyclist lost control of his bike and crashed into a culvert, hitting his head on concrete.

He said the accident occurred at about 10: 46 a.m.

“The road traffic accident involved
a black coloured Carter Motorcycle with registration number 827 NNE.

“According to an eyewitness, the cyclist, a middle-aged man, whose identity is yet to be determined, lost control of the bike, due to lack of concentration, resulting to the unfortunate crash which claimed his life.

“The corpse of the man, who was the only victim in the crash has been deposited at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Mortuary, Ihiala by the FRSC rescue team from the Ihiala Unit Command.

“The team also handed over the motorcycle to the police, for further investigation.”

The sector commander warned motorcycle riders against plying expressways, saying that it was violation of road traffic rules for motorcyclists to operate on expressways.

He reiterated the importance of wearing crash helmets when riding on bikes, to prevent head injuries during crashes.
