Arsenal and Benfica are going to head-to-head to try and sign Nigerian teenage sensations Chidera Ezeh and Musa Yahaya, according to talkSPORT.

The African wonderkids are causing quite a stir after helping Nigeria to victory in the under-17 World in the UAE last year.

Ezeh and Yahaya are currently playing for the River Lane academy and Muntuchi academy respectively and are both represented by Ken Van Deyck, who has openly admitted that the two European clubs are in discussions with the duo.

“We are finalising a deal with Arsenal and Benfica, who I am talking to as exclusive European representative for both players,” Van Deyck said.

Ezeh is a 16-year-old striker who played six matches at last year’s tournament, scoring one goal and providing three assists.

The attacker can also play as a support to the forward and from the left wing, but it is Yahaya that is considered to be the standout talent.

The winger also plays on the left flank and in seven matches at the World Cup in the Middle East, netted four times and also provided four assists.

The Gunners are hoping to snap up both Ezeh and Yahaya and then develop them through their own youth system and probably with some loan spells.

Recent successes from the north London club’s academy have included Kieran Gibbs, Wojceich Szczesny and Jack Wilshere.

As Nigeria is an English speaking country the teenagers may be more open to a switch to London as opposed to Lisbon.
