COVID-19: Travellers From Highly Infected Countries Threatening Nigeria -NCDC

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has said that the highest threat to Nigeria is the influx of travellers from countries that have recorded high cases of coronavirus.

 

NCDC who decried this on its official twitter handle said;

 

“Our biggest source of risk in travellers returning from high-risk countries & are expected to self isolate for 14 days. Our appeal to #Nigerians is to #TakeResponsibility & prevent further transmission of the virus. Collective action is critical to control spread,”

The country has recorded four new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has said.

 

It said this brings the total number of infected persons in Nigeria to 40 as of 11:00pm on Monday.

 

NCDC confirmed this in a Monday night tweet.

 

According to the agency, three of the new cases are in Lagos while the other one is in Abuja.

 

“Four new cases of #COVID19 have been confirmed in Nigeria. 3 are in Lagos State and 1 in FCT.

 

“Two of these cases are returning travellers.

“As at 11:00pm on the 23rd of March, there are 40 confirmed cases of #COVID19 in Nigeria. 2 have been discharged with 1 death recorded,” the agency said.
