Luis Suarez has accused world football governing body FIFA of treating him ‘worse than a hooligan’ after he was sent home from the World Cup.

The incident happen when the Uruguayan used his teeth against Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini during their group stage match, the third time he has been caught biting an opponent in his professional career.

The act was condemned by football fans all over the world, and this was followed by FIFA issuing a four-month ban from all football related activity, postponing his unveiling as a Barcelona player until October.

After Barca’s Champions League win over Manchester City, Suarez has now opened up on the football governing body.

“The way I was treated when I had to leave the World Cup was the worst thing I’ve ever experienced as a player,” he said.

“I’ll never understand it, they treated me worse than a hooligan.”

The 28-year-old was once again accused of biting in the recent Champion League match against Manchester City, when he clashed with Martin Demichelis late in the match, but subsequent videos exonerated him of a fourth biting incident.

The accusations led the former Liverpool man to hit out at the British press, saying they were ‘causing trouble’.

“He [Demichelis] put his hand on my throat,” Suarez told Uruguayan radio station Sport890.

“I do not understand why they want to do this. They want to make trouble, a mountain out of a molehill.

“They must be hurt after what I did to them in the World Cup but they forget that I played in England and they should show me some respect.”
