The election of David Mark, a former Senate president, has been upheld by the National Assembly elections petition tribunal sitting in Makurdi.

In its ruling on Thursday, June 30, the tribunal struck out the petition filed before it by Daniel Onjeh.

Onjeh, who is the All Progressives Congress candidate, had protested the results of the February 20 rerun election in Benue South senatorial district.

A rerun was conducted after the Appeal Court annulled the March 28, 2015 election of which Mark was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Mark won the rerun and was declared winner.

Senator Mark had asked the tribunal to dismiss Onjeh’s petition for filing outside the 21 days required by law.
