Tributes galore as Soyinka marks 86th birthday


Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka clocks 86 today and many prominent Nigerians have flooded social media with congratulatory messages to the literary icon.

Presidential candidate of YPP in 2019, Kingsley Moghalu; Kaduna Central senatorial district in the 8th Senate, Senator Shehu Sani; award-winning film producer, Tunde Kelani; presidential aide, Tolu Ogunlesi, are just some of the many prominent Nigerians who wished him a happy birthday.

Soyinka was born on July 13, 1934, in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

In 1986, he won the Nobel Prize in Literature, the first person from sub-Saharan Africa to win the prestigious prize.

He is a notable human rights activitist and sociopolitical commentator.
