Army forces of Nigeria, Chad, and Cameroon under the Multi-National Joint Task Force have succeeded in neutralizing over 40 Boko Haram terrorists. In the process, they were able to retrieve six gun trucks.

The criminals had planned an ambush and attacked a military base in Gueskerou, which is stationed between the Niger Republic and Nigeria.

According to reports from Punch, the soldiers were just as prepared as the terrorists as they had been on a 10-day attack, tagged as Operation Yancin Tafki. After continuously repelling them and annihilating a good number of the terrorists in the process, they soon took to their heels, seeking cover around Gashigar, a Nigerian territory.

MNJTF’s head of public Information, Colonel Timothy Antigha, equally gave credence to the attack, stating that the joint force battled fiercely with the terrorists at Abadam, Mallam Fatori area. They were able to retrieve 20 AK- 47 guns.

He mentioned that there are already plans to increase the intensity of raids in the area due to the fact that some of the terrorists would probably still be in the Lake Chad Basin region.

The Colonel stated, “In continuation of Operation Yancin Tafki, which was launched last month, troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force, comprising air and land components from Chad, Cameroon, Niger Republic, and Nigeria, dealt a devastating blow on the Boko Haram terrorists.

“On Saturday night, the terrorists operating along Kamadougou River between Niger and Nigeria attacked troops’ location in Gueskerou.

“However, troops fiercely defended their location and killed 40 terrorists, destroyed six gun trucks and captured some ammunition.

“The task force is determined to intensify subsidiary operations such as raids, ambushes and fighting patrols, among others, until the last stronghold of Boko Haram in the Lake Chad Basin is neutralized.”
