Troops of Operation Lafiyan Jama’a have successfully repelled a militia attack on Teegbe community in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, killing one suspect and arresting two others after a pursuit into neighbouring Kaduna State.
The incident, which occurred around 9 a.m. on Wednesday, was made public by security analyst Zagazola Makama via his X (formerly Twitter) handle. According to Makama, troops swiftly responded to a distress call and engaged the assailants upon arrival at the scene.
The attackers fled toward Baduru Sama in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, prompting troops to initiate a hot pursuit. One suspect was neutralised during the chase, while two others—40-year-old Sani Adamu and 20-year-old Buhari Mohammed—were apprehended during a subsequent clearance operation. Both are suspected members of a local bandit group.
Troops also recovered 42 rustled cows and a sum of ₦20,200 from the neutralised suspect.

Tragically, two residents of Teegbe were confirmed dead in the attack, while another suffered gunshot wounds and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. A soldier, identified as Lance Corporal Tope Awoniyi, sustained injuries during the confrontation and is currently receiving care at the 3 Division Medical Services and Hospital.
The arrested suspects and recovered items are in military custody as investigations continue.
