Following the non-payment of salaries, the Labour groups in Ekiti state have decided to embark on a three-day fasting and prayer session.

The call for the three days fast was made in a release signed by the secretaries of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Olayemi; Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) Mr. J.A. Adebayo and Joint Negotiating Council, Mr. Oladele Ayodeji.

The release stated that: “In view of the current situation in Ekiti State as regards the ongoing strike embarked on by the entire workers in Ekiti State.

“All workers in Ekiti State are invited to a three-day fasting and prayer from Tuesday to Thursday 16th June.

“It is expected that this should be replicated at all the 16 Local Government Areas in Ekiti State.”

Meanwhile, the labour groups have also debunked rumours that their strike has been suspended.

The chairman, Trade Union Congress, Comrade Odunayo Adesoye, said the rumour that the strike had been suspended after an exhaustive meeting with the governor which was held on Sunday, June 12, was far from the truth.
