He said this in a statement from his campaign which said “Trump acknowledged that Jerusalem has been the eternal capital of the Jewish people for over 3,000 years, and that the US, under a Trump administration, will finally accept the long-standing congressional mandate to recognize Jerusalem as the undivided capital of the state of Israel.”

Al-Jazeera reports that Donald Trump had a private meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at his residence in Trump Tower on Sunday before facing his rival Hilary Clinton of Democratic Party at the debate who is expected to meet Netanyahu in New York today.

The decision of Donald Trump if actualized will mean that the territory of the Arabs in the Eastern half of Jerusalem which was captured by Israel during the 1967 Arab-Israel war and taken over by Israel in 1980 which was not recognized by both US and UN will finally be annexed.

In a statement, the prime minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu admitted to meeting with Donald Trump but denied discussing the issue of annexation with him.

“Prime Minister Netanyahu discussed with Mr. Trump issues relating to Israel’s security and its efforts to achieve stability and peace in the Middle East,” the statement said.

It added that promised Netanyahu that Washington would provide Israel with “extraordinary strategic, technological and military cooperation” if he is elected.
