Turkish Airline Brought In Italian Who Tested Positive For Coronavirus

Prof Akin Abayomi, Lagos State Commissioner for Health, has said that the Italian who tested positive for coronavirus flew into the country from Milan, Italy through Turkish Airline on Monday.

 

The commissioner, however, stated that the patient did not exhibit any symptoms of coronavirus during the time.

 

According to the commissioner who gave details of the patient’s movement, said that the patient passed the night at a hotel in Lagos when he arrived on Monday, and travelled to Ogun State the following day where he lodged the accommodation provided by his business.

 

The Commissioner revealed that the patient fell ill on Wednesday while still in Ogun State and was brought over to Lagos on Thursday, where he tested positive to COVID-19 and has been confined at the isolation facility at the Mainland Hospital, Yaba.

Reports claim that the Italian confirmed to have been infected with Coronavirus had also visited Ewekoro in Ewekoro local government area of Ogun state this week. The Herald gathered that Ogun state commissioner for health, Tomi Coker, made this known on Friday, February 28.

 

Coker said that the facility visited by the Italian has been quarantined in accordance with the health safety standard. The commissioner added that efforts are also in place to get in touch with people that had contact with the established index case.

 

Coker, however, assured residents and visitors to the state of proper intervention of the state government.
