The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Godwin Emefiele has stated that the current scarcity of foreign exchange the nation is faced with has been a blessing in disguise as there has been increased production of local goods which hard currencies were wasted on before.

The CBN Governor disclosed this during the weekend while on an assessment tour of the farmlands cultivated under the Anchor Borrowers Programme in Kebbi State, weekend.

In a statement released by the Acting Director of Communications, Mr. Isaac Okoroafor, yesterday in Abuja, the CBN Governor said: “Rice output from Kebbi State alone had proved wrong, critics of the apex bank’s forex policy measures.”

He added that the level of success achieved by the project in Kebbi state as well as what he saw at the Sunti Golden Sugar Estate in Niger State just recently, could produce enough to feed the country and even export.
