The General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, says tweeting is a human right as encapsulated in Article 19 of the United Nations universal declaration of human rights.

The revered cleric stated this in a tweet on Monday, saying his church boasts of a global following.

“The Redeemed Christian Church of God is domiciled in more than 170 nations and territories. The tweets here are in accordance with Article 19 of the United Nations universal declaration of human rights,” the tweet read.

Article 19 of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights reads, “Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.”

Recall that the Federal Government indefinitely suspended Twitter on Friday.

In a statement through the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the government cited the “persistent use of the platform for activities that are capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence” for its decision to wield the big stick.

Since the announcement, the #TwitterBan has attracted condemnation both locally and internationally.
