Tragedy struck the Moniya area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital after a diesel tanker fell on the road, igniting a fire which consumed nearby shops as well as a motor park near Akinyele local government.
According to eye witness accounts, the diesel tanker lost control and fell on a vehicle travelling to Ogbomoso while descending a slope at a busy section of Moniya, Ibadan.

Eye witnesses say there was a loud blast followed by a huge ball of fire with billowing thick black smoke that burned everything in its path.
One of the deceased persons was said to be trapped in the vehicle going to Ogbomoso while the other was a pedestrian.
The Oyo state fire service got to the scene about 35 minutes after the fire started and helped to put out the fire.
