The governor of Taraba state, Darius Ishaku has said that he is behind former Chief of Army Staff, Theophilus Danjuma who made some incendiary statements about how the Army have been a menace to society and that people should look to defend themselves.

The governor said this when he hosted the probe panel set up by the chief of army staff, Tukur Buratai, to investigate the recent statements made against the Nigerian armed forces by Danjuma.

“We in Taraba are fully behind what Danjuma said on self-defence.” he said

“As an ex-army general with a high reputation, I think that call deserves to be looked into and not to be criticised because he spoke the minds of everyone in Taraba and indeed all Nigerians,”

He also assured the panel that they would have a conducive environment to work in with as little interference as possible and he spoke out against the activities of soldiers in Taraba state who he accused of going about mistreating citizens and disarming those with petty arms and letting those with lethal weapons go through without sanctions or retribution.
