U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson will use his first official visit to Britain to discuss the fight against terrorism and other foreign policy issues with Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson on Friday.

Officials said: “Tillerson’s visit is an expression of UK-U.S. solidarity following the terrorist attack in Manchester earlier this week.

“Tillerson will extend condolences on behalf of the American people to the British people and Her Majesty’s government,’’ State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert said in Washington ahead of the visit.

Nauert said that the Secretary would reaffirm America’s commitment to the special relationship between the U.S. and the UK and our solidarity in defeating terrorism in every part of the world.

The officials said Tillerson and Johnson would write messages of condolence for the victims of Monday’s attack, which killed 22 people and injured dozens at the end of a concert by U.S. singer Ariana Grande at the Manchester Arena. (dpa/NAN)
