Ousted Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe has withdrawn his case against the Governing Council of the University and it’s Chairman, Prof. Wale Babalakin, challenging his removal as VC.

Prof. Ogundipe had filed a suit against UNILAG, the university council and Senate, Dr. Wale Babalakin, the University Registrar and the new Acting VC, Prof Soyombo at the National Industrial court over his removal.

Lawyers to the plaintiff, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa (SAN) and Tayo Oyetibo however approached the court on Friday to have the case withdrawn.

According to the lawyers, the case was withdrawn after the former VC consulted with supporters and stakeholders of the university.

According to a statement by Adegboruwa;

“Prof. Ogundipe directed his lawyers to file a notice of discontinuance of the suit and this has been done on August 21, 2020.

“This is to defer to the authority of the President as the Visitor of the University as Prof. Ogundipe has enough time to challenge his purported removal.”
