Trump Agrees To Sell High-Tech Fighter Jets To Nigeria

The United States President, Donald Trump has agreed to sell high-tech attack planes to Nigeria coming months after two United states senators advised him against the sale.

The Donald Trump-led administration appears to have given a green light with regards to the sale of fighter jets to Nigeria at an estimated cost of close to $600 million.

According to officials within the Trump-led administration, the attempt to beef up security in the West African country especially following the increased fight against terrorist group, Boko Haram led to the need to purchase the fighter jets.

The transaction between the countries will afford the West African country, Nigeria, the opportunity to buy as much as 12 Embraer A-29 Super Tucano aircraft from Colorado-based Sierra Nevada Corp.

Officials briefed on the matter who spoke on the condition of anonymity stated that the aircrafts will come with sophisticated targeting equipment which the U.S. boasts will help Nigeria better fight against terrorism,trafficking, insurgency and illicit trade in the country and on its shores.
