A US-based Nigerian musician and peace advocate, Prince Ayo Manuel Ajisebutu says the constant agitation for secession by some ethnic groups in Nigeria can lead to genocide.

He stated this while calling for dialogue to address concerns of marginalisation among some ethnic groups in a bid to promote unity and togetherness in the country.

Ajisebutu warned against plunging the country into war, saying no one gains in the long run.

“Imagine how millions of lives could have been saved in Rwanda and Burundi if the world stood up at the beginning of the genocide that ravaged the two countries,” he quipped.

The musician added that his “mission is to inspire people globally to behave royally and do everything with love for the greater good of humanity.”

Ajisebutu, who owns MansMark Records, an entertainment outfit in Los Angeles, California, said the world would be at peace if everyone realised that all humans are connected and behaved accordingly.

The artiste has led several campaigns to sue for peace and enthrone human rights, including one to save Ken Saro-Wiwa in 1995.

He has recently called on the Nigerian government to respect the rights of Nigerians to peaceful protests and frowned at the recent detention of Convener of Revolution Now, Omoyele Sowore.
