A United States Court has allegedly dismissed the case of fraud against a Nigerian, Olalekan Ponle also known Woodberry.

Woodberry was arrested alongside Ramon Abbas also known as Hushpuppi in Dubai on charges of wire fraud and extradited to the United States on July 2.

Although Woodberry was supposed to face trial on an eight count charge of fraud, the US government filed a motion requesting that the case against the Nigerian be dismissed without prejudice.

According to government attorney, John Lausch, the dismissal is in accordance with US federal rules of criminal procedure 48 which states that the US government with the permission of the court may dismiss an indictment, prosecution or complaint.

Judge Robert Gettleman thereafter dismissed the charges in line with the wishes of the US government.

Without objection the complaint against defendant Ponle is dismissed without prejudice. Motion presentment hearing set for 7/23/2020 is stricken,” the Judge ruled.
